The Prairie View History Book Series, under the leadership of Dr. William T. Hoston, is a comprehensive exploration of the 150-year history of Prairie View A&M University. By incorporating books, articles, and oral histories, we aim to build on existing works, ensuring that every aspect of the institution's history is thoroughly documented and brought to a larger audience.​

From "The Hill" to "The Hall": An Anthology on Prairie View Sports 

From “The Hill” to “The Hall” chronicles the extraordinary contributions of Prairie View A&M University athletes and coaches. It spotlights those who have earned induction into Halls of Fame at the state, regional, national, and international levels, and it situates Prairie View, a historically Black university founded in 1876, as a vessel of athletic excellence, tracing the trajectories of its sports figures from “The Hill” to “The Hall.”

The Hill We Climbed: Prairie View A&M University

The Hill We Climbed: Prairie View A&M University is an edited collection that provides a snapshot of the university’s history by looking at important figures, traditions, student life, and university programs. As we embark upon the university’s sesquicentennial, it is essential to continue to document its historical plight and famous moniker that “Prairie View produces productive people.”

Justice on "The Hill": A History of Activism at Prairie View A & M University 

Justice on "The Hill" is an edited collection that provides an introductory look into the historic socio-political advocacy of past administrators, faculty members, and students at Prairie View A&M University (PVAMU). The chapters demonstrate the collective effort of the university and its affiliates, instilling a strong sense of unity and a shared purpose, in elevating the social and political plight of Black people. As Black people protested against racial oppression in the landscape of the United States, also happening in the rural area of Waller County, were people who began social movements to demonstrate their resolve and evoke the federal government to disrupt the Jim Crow practices that existed in the Deep South.

Black Profiles in Greatness: A Legacy of Prairie View A&M University is an edited collection that chronicles the unique and rich history of Prairie View A&M University, one of the nation’s oldest Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). The university, with its distinct origins and the generations of scholars, leaders, and change-makers that it has cultivated, stands out in the HBCU landscape.
